Synopsis Objectives and Hypotheses: Align Them with Your Design
Use objectives and hypotheses only where they fit your question and research approach.
Start with the purpose and requirements
Use objectives and hypotheses only where they fit your question and research approach. This guide is a practical starting point, not a replacement for your supervisor’s instructions, university handbook or a journal’s current author guidelines. Requirements vary by discipline and stage, so confirm the applicable rules before drafting or revising your document.
Apply the approach to your document
Objectives describe what the study will accomplish. Hypotheses state testable propositions and are not required for every qualitative or exploratory project. For each proposition, specify concepts and how they will be measured. Do not add hypotheses merely to make a synopsis look more technical.
An illustrative example
An exploratory interview study may ask how merchants describe trust rather than test a numerical hypothesis. A quantitative design could test a specified association, but the variables and analysis need to support it. This example shows how to reason about the task; it is not a ready-made result, prescribed template or claim about a completed client project. Adapt the approach to your own evidence and approved requirements.
Checks before you move on
Work through these checks on your actual document. If a requirement is unclear, note the question for your supervisor, department or journal rather than guessing. Keep the original draft and a record of significant decisions so revisions remain traceable.
- Use objectives linked to the question
- Include hypotheses only when appropriate
- Define measurable variables
- Map each aim to analysis
Prepare a synopsis-support enquiry
State whether the document is a registration proposal or a summary of completed work. Share the department’s template, your research question and any supervisor feedback. Identify which decisions are approved and which still need discussion. Do not promise data access or results that are not established, and confirm the committee’s requirements before booking assistance.
Discuss scope and next steps
Academic Compass provides synopsis support from Fort, Mumbai for researchers and students across India. Use the Services & Pricing page to review the listed service and WhatsApp to discuss your stage, deadline and required help. Ask for confirmation of the specific deliverables and price before starting. Academic approval, grades and journal acceptance are independent decisions and are not guaranteed.
